What is Student Workforce Development?
Student Workforce Development (SWD) at UC Davis supports the professional growth of student employees and their supervisors. With over 11,000 student workers in key campus roles, these jobs help students build real-world experience and career-ready skills. Supervisors shape this journey through mentorship and inclusive, growth-focused environments. This site provides training and resources to help supervisors create structured, career-aligned experiences that prepare students for success at UC Davis and beyond.

- AggieGrow: Help students articulate skills gained through student employment
- This workshop helps students identify, articulate, and connect the transferable skills gained through student employment to their future goals.

- This workshop equips supervisors with strategies to onboard student employees effectively, foster engagement and belonging, and implement practices that support long-term retention.
- Embedding Mentorship into the Student Employee Experience
- This workshop helps supervisors foster mentorship relationships that build student employees’ skills, confidence, and professional growth.
- Handshake Support and Best Practices
- Learn how to leverage Handshake to improve accessibility to your student postings, fine tune recruitment processes, improve marketing, and highlight your department’s events.
